One thing that would make Mendeley better (it's excellent as is) is if I could check for duplicate authors in my library. When I import multiple papers by one author, some of these will enter "Richardson, James" as the author while another might be "Richardson, J". This must be because some journals give only the author's initials, while others give the full name. This causes there to be multiple entries in my library for one author. I have manually searched through my library to make corrections, but this takes a while. I was wondering if there is any way to search for duplicate surnames (and possibly duplicate initials / first names with the same surname) so that I don't have to search through every surname? Accessibility, and storage...
Dear Madam/sir,
I'd be curious to know what are the conditions for a private CRO company if it would like to use Mendeley to organize/manage their publications references and eventually share them with its coworkers?
Is it free of charge or how much does it cost?
I'd be interested in where the publications are stored? Can those be stored on a its private server without syncronizing them to the web and also what are limitation in size?

non-academic or non-research use of Mendeley
Hi
I am a Mendeley user for my own library and I think it is a fantastic tool
I work for a multinational company and I suggested my colleagues to use the free version of Mendeley to manage our department information (not very large in fact). They also think it is a great software for our purposes.
So first of all, we would like to know if we will have any issue/problem/conflict of interest when using the free version of Mendeley since our company is non academic and it has a clear commercial purpose.

Bibliography
when I insert the bibliography,the in text citations are no longer being replaced with a corresponding reference number. In the past when I have used this feature the in text citation would be replaced by sequential numbers that corresponded to the bibliography(unless the reference were being cited for a second time in the paper, then the original reference number from the first use of the repeated reference would appear in the appropriate place in the document)The bibliography would also be formatted numerically to correspond to these references. Now, the in text references remain (author,yr,etc)and the inserted bibliography is formatted alphabetically by author.
Has something changed or am I doing something incorretly? I use APA6 style.

Citations are not in alphabetical order [IEEE Format] - FIXED
My bibliography wasn't sorting references alphabetically by author, but I fixed it and am sharing hoping it'll help someone else too.
Note that this only worked for IEEE formatted references. You can easily add it to others though.
TO USE:
Open Mendeley. Go View, Citation Style, More Styles, Get More Styles, then use the following URL:
http://cs.georgetown.edu/~jason/ieee-sorted.csl
And now you should be good to go.
Hope this helps someone else too...this annoyed me for hours.

• Mendeley doesn’t have a filter by open access articles/journals. Is still the case? (I have found a post of 2013, see link below).

two computers using the same account, with the files in a DROPBOX directory
I have two computers using the same account. However even when mendeley is synchronized in both computers, there are differences.
1.- The settings should be the same in both computers (file organizer settings?). At this moment I have chosen one as my principal computer, where the files are being organized and renamed. In my second computer I have set not to organize and sort and rename my files. Both computers should have the same settings?

An error reported by Word when trying to insert a reference
The message reads:
"Microsoft Visual Basic. Compile error in hidden module: MendeleyLib". Actually, when I open any Word file, I get the following message: "Compile error in hidden module: AppEventHandler". Is it a problem with my Windows (I'm still using the XP professional) or is it Mendeley?

citation not matching reference style?
My citation is not matching reference style. For example "M. H. Langholtz, Eaton, Turhollow, & Hilliard, 2014; M. Langholtz et al., 2012)"is generated from reference style Neuropsychologia, which I don't think should show initials, and should show "et al." instead of 4 author names. What's an easy way to select a reference style that matches my preferences? I've selected styles from http://csl.mendeley.com/searchByExample/

URLs added
When I bring in a PDF where do the urls come from? Does Mendeley by default always look to see if it's available in PubMed first and used that url? I ask because I used the Web Importer in OVID Medline but the url added into the record was from PubMed Central. I was surprised by this...can you explain?

Citing captions in word
I'm using Word 2010. I've inserted citations in the body of the text followed by a cited image. When I cite another piece of text after the image, the image citation number changes.
e.g. I've cited text which appears as 1, I then cite an image which appears as 2. I then cite more text after the image and this appears as 2 and the image changes to 3.
Any advice with this would be most appreciated.

Is there an easy way to delete the duplicate papers from a folder. At present if I want to merge(or delete) 100 duplicate papers then I have to press 'confirm merge' 100 times. This seems totally counterproductive. where is 'merge all selected documents'?

Adding a prefix to a bibliographic record
I want to insert a prefix to a bibliographic record. For example:
1. Flowing protein-free fluids over the surface of the electrode via an open cannula surrounding a needle electrode has also been explored, but implantation times of only 4-5 hours were studied: Ahmed, S.; Dack, C.; Farace, G.; Rigby, G.; Vadgama, P., Tissue implanted glucose needle electrodes: early sensor stabilisation and achievement of tissue-blood correlation during the run in period. Is there a field where I could put this text and, moreover, how would one modify a style to insert this prefix field?
