Cross reference to first footnote

Is it possible for a subsequent footnote to cross refer to the note number where it first appeared? Can I edit the CSL file to reflect this? Example: 1. John Doe, 'Great Footnotes' (Publisher, 2013) 2. Jane Doe, 'Not Great Footnote' (Publisher 2000) 3. John Doe, 'Great Footnotes' (footnote 1) at 34. Thanks a lot!!!

In line citations keep superscript/subscript formatting after update

$

I'm currently writing a paper using the Physical Review B citation format. The in line citations are superscripts. So I may say something like... The sky is blue^1. (pretending that 1 is actually superscript citation denoting reference 1). Suppose that later in the paper I want to say something like. I agree with reference 1 that the sky is indeed blue. I'd like that number to automatically update as I add additional references, so I add it as a citation with mendeley, which makes it a superscript. I obviously can change the formatting in word (to make it not a superscript). However, every time a new citation is added, mendeley updates citation numbers and resets every citation to a superscript, in accordance with the citation format. Is there any way to get mendeley to not change this sort of thing back to a superscript every time a new citation is added? I guess what would be needed is for Mendeley to ignore whether the reference is a superscript/subscript when it refreshes citation numbers. Thanks for your help, Tyler

I am using Word 2013. Whenever I try 'Inserting Bibliography' for the cited references, the bibliography is inserted within the body of the word doc (soon after the citation) and not at the end of the document like it is supposed to do. What can I do to make it appear at the end of the Doc?

Because of my bad memory, I always troubled by the duplicated records, so can you add a new function that when users add a new record, automatically compare the recored with database, if record already exist in database, then remind users about this condition?

Sorting inline citations

Hi Josh; I saw that you modified one of the styles within the CSL editor to include a sort node within the inline citations. Could you do that for the following style:? http://csl.mendeley.com/styles/7242283/harvard1-2 I assume the bug has not been fixed? As I tried to add the node myself again today and I am still receiving the same error message. Many thanks, Catriona

NIH Grant citation style

Hello, This question was previously posed by Hannah Hathaway, but not sufficiently answered: Does Mendeley have a citation style compatible with NIH grant requirements, specifically: --including ALL authors in the bibliography, no use of 'et al' --including PMCID and/or NIHMS numbers If not, then this is urgently needed. Thank you, Noam Harel

Search in undownloaded (never open) article in Desktop Mendeley?

Hello all, I have a question here. So, I am trying to figure out something. I have installed Mendeley Desktop on Windows 7. I am a part of a group and i can see all articles and i can search by their authors and details. That works fine, however If i try to search by something in the article itself and I have not downloaded (open ) i can't search in it. Is there a way around it or i have to go through every single article (there are 120 articles in the group) and only then to search in them? Please help! Thanks for you time all.

Automatically detecting all citations after document is finished

I have tried to search the question archives to answer this question myself, but the 300+ pages of questions without any method of sorting is not very convenient. The one similar question I came across early was from over a year ago, thus... Is there a way to insert your citations as you write your document in a specific format, e.g., [author year; author year] or {author year; author; year}, and then insert the actual citations from Mendeley after you have completed your document. Endnote includes this feature (and the ability to specify how you will "code" your citations) and then afterwards you can have Endnote scan the document for all of those coded citations to insert them one after another, all at once. Then you can create your bibliography. This option seems far superior, as in vastly more efficient, than having to place your cursor at each point and opening Mendeley to manually insert each set of references. Moreover, you can keep your referencing in plain text throughout revisions for easy editing and sharing amongst authors. Does this exist or is it planned for newer versions?
