Grouped references

Hello everyone, I've been working with Mendeley for some time now. However, in a paper I'm writing they asked me the following format: [1] a) Author, A., and Coauthor, B., Adv. Mater. 2006, 18, 1-3; b) Author, A., Coauthor, B., Coauthor, C., Adv. Funct. Mater. 2006, 16, 1-5. Which means that one reference should contain several others instead of the typical [1-5] and then list the 5 references separately... I've been unable to find or create such kind of format. Does anyone know how can I manage to do it? Thanks a lot!
