Hi,
At my office, I operate as a restricted user on my OSX machine. I've been happily using Mendeley Desktop for numerous years now, where I mostly use Mendeley's LaTeX/BibTeX functionality. Because Mendeley Desktop is nicely self-contained, I am able to install it and keep it updated myself in a directory where I have write permissions.
I'm now finding myself more frequently needing to use MSWord when interacting with others. The problem I'm encountering is that the 'Install MSWord Plugin' tool attempts to write into my /Applications directory where Microsoft Office is installed and therefore requires admin privileges.
I'm curious whether it is possible to install the MS Word Plugin by hand for an individual user, i.e. installing the necessary files somewhere within my ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Office directory and/or executing some required commands?
If so, I'd sincerely appreciate learning how to do that. This would permit me to keep Mendeley up-to-date without bothering my sysadmin.
Thanks.
