I see it is possible to have multiple watched folders.
Now, it would be great if one could specify follow-up actions depending on which folder the new documents are imported from. For example:
- add the new document to a certain Mendeley folder,
- add a certain tag to the new document,
- mark the new document as unpublished, etc.
I think this would be a very valuable feature. Will you consider it?

how to reliably delete a citation from text? I deleted all and still they are in reference list.
I have the problem that I cited the same papers from two different groups, but Mendeley did not recodnized them as the same ones, so I had behind the same paper sometimes "a" and sometimes "b". So I started to re-add the citations manually and try to keep only one source. However, although I removed all "b" citations in the case of one, there is still written "a" behind all of them. Could you help me? Once it worked, but I think there might be the problem with the merged citations... Because everytime I try to remove a citation from a bigger merged list, Mendeley asks me if I "want to keep manual edit" and gets stuck. Sometimes, this citation is back anyway after a while...
Thank you for any advice!

Working with other software
If references from other software such as refnote or endnote are part of a word document, can these be detected in a word document and converted to a mendeley bibliography?

using your software with a flashdrive
Hello,
I am working on a thesis. I do not have a regular desktop or laptop computer to download the software. Can your software be stored on a flashdrive for safe and consistent use? If so, this would allow me to use computers at local libraries.

Word for Mac plug-in very slow under 1.9.1
Dear Mendeley support team,
I installed the new 1.9.1 version, and updated the Word plugin. With the older version it took about 3-4 seconds until the citation was added to the document, but now it takes about 15-20 seconds, which makes working quite annoying. Thus, I returned to my older Mendeley version. Will this be fixed in an upcoming update?
System:
Macbook Air, OSX 10.8.4, 1,8 GHz i5, 4GB DDR3 RAM
Word for Mac 2011, Version 14.3.4

Thanks.

Problem with citations
Whenever I make a reference list, the citations contain an extra line or two that I then have to manually remove individually. It is usually something like: "accessed on-line on date... at www.xxxx.com"...
Can someone please help me figure out what I am doing wrong.

Many thanks

Citing a cited reference
I have a references that was cited in a different article. How do I put that in a citation within word; is there any way of adding cited in??
Ie. Chang, I. C. L. (1952). The fatty acid content of meat and poultry before and after cooking. Journal of the American Oil Chemists’ Society, 29, 334-378. Cited by Bender, A.E. (1978). Food processing and nutrition. London: Academic Press.

URL's in my bibliography are correct but are all dead
I have included URL's in my bibliography but they do not have an active link. I would like the link to be active, so that readers can click on the link,as you can in Word, and not have to cut and paste the URL.
What is the problem, how can it be fixed?

Understand REAL location of files in Mendeley
Hello,
My question is in regard to files in Mendeley...I am struggling with understanding whether or not I am actually IMPORTING/STORING files into Mendeley (on a server somewhere) or just using Mendeley to POINT to files on my own system. By proxy, when a collaborator is looking at the shared files, are they actually looking at my hard drive? Would my Mac need to be running 24/7 for them to see shared articles, etc?
Sorry for the dumb questions...

sync does not work in all cases
If I enter papers on one machine (say, laptop) then sync on desktop machine, the citations are carried across but not the PDF files. This also occurs when one person in a group enters PDFs - they do not always sync. This is very problematic.

Mendeley macros not running in word-plug-in
I've written a paper in Microsoft Word 2007 and used the Mendeley plug-in for in-text citations and the bibliography. I opened up this paper yesterday and the macros script is no longer running, and just remains as code inserted into this document. I'm using the latest version of Mendeley Desktop 1.9.1.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the word plug-in as well as closing and restarting word and Mendeley.
The in-text citations look like this:
{ADDIN CSL_CITATION {"citationItems" : [ { "id" : "ITEM-1", ......etc.
And the bibliography looks like this:
{ADDIN Mendeley Bibliography CSL_BIBLIOGRAPHY}
Any fixes for this issue?

No consistency in citation style
I am using Chichago Manual Style for citation. But I find the citations in my file very inconsistent. In some places it is first name last name and year, while in some places there is surname and year, and others. Is it due to the way data are entered on mendeley, or it is the problem with Mendeley?
And also in my Bibliography, in some places I found the author name missing, although I have it entered in my Mendeley Library.

Cite While you Write Questions
I am using the Cite while you write Word plugin and I want to cite multiple sources at the end of one sentence. I am using IEEE style. Each citation appears as a number with a bracket around it. When more than one citation in a row is used, it appears as:
[1],[2],[3],[4],[5] instead of [1-5].
Is there any way to change this? The merge citation button is not available.

Word plugin - Macro cannot be found
I am using microsoft word 2010 and recently installed the mendeley reference manager plugin. The mendeley toolbar is there, but whenever I try to insert a citation (or hit another button) I get an error message saying: "Macro cannot be found or is disabled due to your security settings". I followed the help instructions word gave me (options -- trust center -- settings trust center -- enable all macros), but this did not help. I also double checked whether the plugin was listed as active in my word plugins, which it was. I have always worked with reference manager 11 which is still enabled (and working) in my word documents, but now I'm wondering whether the two might not be compatible. Hope you can help me!

Citation style file for Pest Management Science MS, didn't see one listed
Looking to use an existing style file that is the same as Pest Management Science requires. From their site - "Format references in the Vancouver style. Refer to unpublished work entirely in the text thus: (Smith AB, unpublished), (Brown CD, 1987, pers. comm.). Indicate literature references by numerical superscripts 1 in order of appearance 2,3 after any punctuation. 4-6 Each number should refer to only one reference. List the references in numerical order at the end of the paper, giving all the authors, with their initials, after the respective surname(s). Include paper titles and chapter titles in references. Abbreviate the journal title as in Chemical Abstracts (see detailed list in Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index 1978, cumulative; and quarterly supplements; if the journal is not included, give the title in full). Note carefully the style and order:" Was thinking another journal uses this same format so just need to know the name of the style file to load.

Using the same number for same reference
I was citing my references yesterday and the numbering is was numbering correctly, ie. the same reference was given the same citation number on my document. I closed and saved my document and then wanted to continue with my citations, but now the same reference that I used yesterday is giving me a different citation number. How do I fix this? Thank you.
