I intalled Mendeley desktop, imported my Endnote library, and pointed Mendeley at my directory containing lots of pdf files. I'm very happy with how it's working and I've spent a bit of time eliminating duplicates, etc.
My only problem is that my directory contained quite a few large pdfs. Some unpublished reports, many published documents. I'm looking for the most efficient way to not include these in the documents Mendeley uploads. I don't need these to be accessible anywhere other than on my computer. I like having the link in Mendeley, but I don't want it to take space in my online account.
Does checking the "unpublished work" keep it from uploading, or does it just make it so it's not public when it is uploaded? If not, is there a way to have the link to the pdf file on my computer in Mendeley desktop without having it automatically included in the web upload?
