Mendely is not working well on Mac

Hello I have Mendeley for Mac on a Mac v 10.8.5 and Word for Mac 2011 v 14.3.9. It has been working reasonably well for the last 2 weeks but since today, it does not allow to insert references from Word or it gets stuck when trying to go to Mendeley desktop from word. One of the messages that gives is: Problem formating citation 22 Problem updating citation [13] You can fix this problem by removing and reinserting it I have closed and open all the applications including Mendeley and Word and it is still not working What can I do? Thanks
