eBook Compatibility

Hi community While I love the smell and feel of a book straight off the academic presses, there is a certain attraction to having a searchable digital version on an iPad. I love using Mendeley, and this love grows steadily as I read and cite more papers and books. The problem I have is with books - I create the Mendeley entry manually, but in search terms, it is only as good as the tags I add, so full text string searches are out of the window. Is there one or more format of eBook that I can configure Mendeley to interact with? Does it work with Kindle or iBooks? Before I start committing to an extensive digital library it would be good to know the propriety limitations of each, and to know if there's a good hack to get one or more standard working. I'm on a Mac for the desktop version, if that is of any help. Hugs Adrian
