Unable to use Word 2010 styles to format a bibliography.

Hi, I have been using Mendeley for a couple of years now and it is very useful, but I have a problem with formatting the bibliography in Word 2010 for Windows 32 bit that I cannot solve or find a working answer to. The problem occurs with any of the citation styles I have used or tried. I insert the bibliography at the appropriate place and it is inserted Normal (web) style. I need to change the style, indents, spacing etc. I make the changes, update the style, or apply a new style with the desired formatting, makes no difference, the next time I add a new in-text reference, I loose all the formatting in the bibliography and it reverts to the original Normal (web) style. I have searched your pages for an answer, several people have posted a similar issue, none of the answers have worked for me. I format the bibliography, add a new citation, and the bibliography reverts back to original Normal (web). Even though I have made changes to Normal (web), these are ignored when the bibliography reverts. In Word I tried editing the field code by checking the preserve formatting box, and one of two things happens. Either the bibliography is converted to text, or disappears altogether. I also tried adding the following code to the Mendeley bibliography formula \* MERGEFORMAT without success, it generates a syntax error message. Different bibliographies, different citation styles, different documents, it makes no difference, same problem every time. Is there any way to make Word insert the bibliography in the Word style of my choosing, rather than Normal (web) and make it stay that way?
