Hey, I have the same unresolved issue posted by others. I am using Harward referencing style which requires the endings Author 1 2015a and Author 1 2015b to be in the order they are in the text. (Microsoft Word add-on, Word 2016).

Citation:
"I am using the Functional Ecology referencing style, which should use (e.g.) 2015a, 2015b, etc when there is more than one paper by the same authors in the same year. However, I find that it seems to put the first paper I mention as 2015b and the second paper as 2015a. I tried again in a new Word document (in case I had already put the reference in earlier) but it did the same thing."
