I use APA style referencing (and this is correctly selected). I have up to date instalments and have uninstalled and reinstalled plugin.
Within the text, this should show (Brown, Smith & Black, 1997). Then in the referencing section, it should display as "A. B. Brown, C. D. Smith & E. D Black...".
However, this does not happen on every occasion, more often than not I'll see within the text "(A.Brown, C.Smith. & E. Black, 1997)" or just "(A.Brown, 1997)"
I can't manually change it, no matter what I do to the author section of the document in Mendeley, it cites incorrectly. I've tried typing the author section in Mendeley "Brown, A. B., Smith, C. D...." etc, I've tried taking out the forename initials, taking out, putting in commas, full stops, changing the order...nothing works.
Mendeley will not let me alter the references manually. I am tearing my hair out; I'm trying to write a PhD thesis and spending more time arsing around with references than I am writing.
Another point, what about when I want to cite, within the text "Brown (1997) describes..."? How can I make this work when Mendeley won't allow me to manually alter the text?
Please help before I totally lose the plot.
